Advanced Fertility Services - Egg Donors available

Egg Donation

Some women are found to be incapable of producing viable eggs. These patients may elect to undergo IVF using eggs donated by another woman. The donor may be selected anonymously from the A.F.S. donor file or be a friend or family member of the infertile couple.

An egg donor follows the same protocol for medication and oocyte retrieval as an IVF patient. At the same time, the recipient receives medication to cause her hormone levels to mimic those of the donor. After the retrieval, the donor’s eggs will be fertilized with the husband's sperm. The resulting embryos will then be transferred to the patient's uterus.

Choosing a Donor

Through oocyte donation we hope to help you achieve your dream of having a baby.

In our program, you may choose your own anonymous donor based upon a actual photographs and actual biographical information.  We do not charge a donor agency recruitment fee, which represents a substantial savings for our patients.

Who is a Candidate for the Donor Oocyte Program?

You may want to consider oocyte donation if you do not have eggs of your own, if you carry a genetic disorder, or have shown consistently poor performance in prior IVF treatment cycles. Previous chemotherapy, surgical procedures on the ovaries, premature menopause, and absence of the ovaries from birth are some the more common reasons that donor eggs are required to become pregnant. In order to consider receiving donor oocytes, you must be in good health and have a relatively normal uterus. your spouse's semen analysis should be within the normal range, but low sperm counts are usable for IVF

Methods Used to Recruit Donors

AFS provides thoroughly screened egg donors, according to the guidelines established by the New York State Department of Health.

Anonymous Recruited Donors

We have a pool of healthy egg donors of various ethnic origins readily available. The anonymous egg donors are compensated financially for their time, discomfort, and risks. The usual donor stipend is currently $8,000.

Non-anonymous Recruited Donors

Any couple requiring donor oocytes are welcome to bring their own known donor. This individual may be a relative, friend, or acquaintance and must be under the age of 30 years and in excellent physical health. A history of prior conception is a desirable factor. Although this donor is non-anonymous, our policy will still include the comprehensive screening process as with our anonymous donors. It must be understood, however, that we reserve the right not to use a particular donor.

Becoming a Donor

The staff of AFS is continuously recruiting potential egg donors of all ethnic backgrounds. For her time, discomfort, and risk, a donor is compensated 8,000 per completed treatment cycle. She will take daily injections, come frequently to the office for ultrasound and blood tests, and will undergo a needle puncture procedure of the ovaries to collect her eggs. The costs of medical care relating to obtaining eggs are borne by the couple who will be receiving the eggs.
