AFS Donor Oocyte Program

Some women are found to be incapable of producing viable eggs. These patients may elect to undergo IVF using eggs donated by another woman. The donor may either be selected anonymously from the A.F.S. donor file or be a friend or family member of the infertile couple.

An egg donor follows the same protocol for medication and oocyte retrieval as all IVF patients. At the same time, the patient receives medication to cause her hormone levels to approximate those of a natural cycle and to mimic those of the donor. After the retrieval, the donor’s eggs will be fertilized with the husband's sperm; the resulting embryos will then be transferred to the patient's uterus.

AFS provides online donor profiles that are updated monthly. To learn more about our program, either as a recipient or as a potential donor, please use the links above.
