Methods Used to Recruit Donors

Anonymous Recruited Donors
We recruit young healthy donors through advertisement, public speaking, and word of mouth. Many of our donors have friends or relatives who have experienced infertility and understand how significant their gift can be.

In addition, we feel that anonymous donors should be compensated financially for their time, discomfort, and risk. The costs of medical care relating to obtaining eggs are borne by the couple who will be receiving the eggs.

Anonymous recruited donors will undergo a comprehensive screening process involving the following:

1. Questionnaire
2. Initial consultation by our team
3. Screening for general and reproductive health as well as infectious diseases including AIDS, hepatitis, syphilis, and gonorrhea as required by New York State.

Non-anonymous Recruited Donors
The couple receiving the eggs are welcome to bring their own donor. This individual may be a relative, friend, or acquaintance. Although this donor is non-anonymous, our policy will still include the comprehensive screening process as with our anonymous donors. It must be understood, however, that we reserve the right not to use a particular donor.
