Vitro Fertilization Protocols
IVF
drug protocols are used to make a woman produce multiple egg
follicles. The protocol that is selected is chosen on the
basis of the patients age, her hormonal status and the reserve
of eggs in her ovaries. Protocols are designed to produce
a maximal number of eggs in a low responding patient and to
prevent overstimulation of the patient that is anticipated
to be overly responsive to medications.
Currently
Used Protocols
1.
Luteal Phase Lupron: The medication starts one week after
ovulation. Gonadotropins are started during the patient's
period.
2. Microdose Lupron Flare: A very low dose of Lupron (1/400
the normal dosage) is started on day two or three of the menstrual
flow. Gonadotropins are taken along with Lupron.
3. Luteal Phase Discontinue Lupron: is taken in regular dosage
starting one week after ovulation and terminated with the
menstrual flow. Ovarian stimulation is accomplished with gonadotropins
only.
4. Parlodil Rebound Protocol: Parlodil and Lupron are started
one week after ovulation and continued to the 10th day of
the cycle. They are stopped and stimulation with gonadotropins
is started at that time.
5. The New European Protocol: Please refer to our developments
section to learn more about this new protocol.
6. The Birth Control Pill/Lupron/Gonadotropin Protocol: Used
in patients that are likely to be overly high responders,
as in those patients who have polycystic ovaries. Birth Control
Pills can be used in place of Lupron in certain clinical situations
and are an excellent adjunct in preparing the ovaries to be
stimulated.
7. The Norethindrone/Lupron/Gonadotropin Protocol: is used
to start patients on day one or two of the menstrual cycle
8. The Natural Cycle IVF
