Pain Free Fertility Treatments For Men

If you are experiencing male infertility, there are a number of treatment options available – most of which are pain free. Below, we’ll explore some of the most common pain free fertility treatments for men.

Sperm Count & Quality

Most men with infertility experience low sperm count or poor sperm mobility. To determine whether or not you’re experiencing this issue, your doctor will collect a semen sample and send it to the laboratory.

A minority of cases of infertility are caused by hormonal issues, such as low testosterone. Because only a small number of cases are related to hormones, most men do not receive blood tests. If your doctor suspects this issue based on your physical examination, a blood test may be performed.

Intrauterine Insemination

Intrauterine insemination is a cost-effective way to boost fertility in both men and women. During this treatment, the doctor collects a semen sample from you. The semen is then “washed,” so that the seminal proteins are removed and the healthy, active sperm are concentrated. Then, the washed sperm is injected through the cervix directly into the uterus. This is an example of one of the pain free fertility treatments for men.

If IUI is ineffective, or can’t be used for other reasons, then IVF may be used. As with IUI, a semen sample is collected, then used to fertilize eggs that were collected from the ovaries. The embryos are then transferred back to the uterus. IVF is normally used in cases where the woman, or both the man and the woman, have fertility problems; it’s not usually necessary when only the man has infertility.

Varicocele Treatment

Varicose veins in the scrotum, also known as varicoceles, can contribute to infertility. If you have varicoceles, poor sperm quality, and infertility, your doctor may decide to remove the varicoceles. This treatment is not necessarily pain free, but your doctor will use medication and other medications to help keep any pain under control.
